Staycations first appeared over a decade ago, but over the past three years, they have really “bloomed” and become a prevalent travel trend among young people. What exactly is a staycation? And what distinguishes this strongly developing movement? Let us discuss Staycation, a fresh and exciting vacationing choice!

1. What is Staycation?

Staycation is a combination of “stay” and “vacation”. It can be defined as remaining in familiar, close locations near your current living environment. For those who need to learn what a staycation is, the most basic definition is: a staycation is an on-site journey that allows you to have new experiences right where you live.

Some people even take a literal staycation, which means they are still at home but their status has been changed to vacation mode. This trend first emerged in the US in the early 2010s, but it has recently spread to Vietnam, and since the Covid-19 pandemic, has become a worldwide trend.

With this one-of-a-kind trend, you won’t have to worry about luggage, passports, hotel room check-ins, complicated paperwork, long, exhausting trips, or, worse, delays. You can do some “role-playing” to evoke those feelings on a staycation, of course, but we do not recommend it.

2. Why is Staycation popular with the young?

Domestic and international travel was restricted in many parts of the world during the Covid-19 years. Additionally, it led to a severe recession that made spending money and taking vacations seem like a luxury.

Naturally, staycations become a solution in a world where people are unable to leave their homes during the day due to ongoing stress from their jobs. As a result, this trend quickly became popular.

3. Advantages of Staycation

For those who want to unwind but lack the time for lengthy excursions or are too ill to travel, a staycation is a great option. This solution completely eliminates travel expenses, and hotels close to the home have very reasonable rates and a wide selection, making it extremely economical as well.

A brief staycation can do wonders for your ability to recharge, find your bearings, and find inspiration in life. Since you no longer have to worry about finding tours, locating tickets, organizing luggage, creating a strict schedule, or waiting for a worn-out car or train, you can now spend all of your time relaxing.

Another significant factor that cannot be overlooked is the significant reduction in CO2 emissions into the environment that results from limiting train travel.

4. Disadvantages of Staycation

Along with the after mentioned advantages, a staycation also has some unavoidable drawbacks. First off, since the place is close to where people live, anticipation for the trip won’t be as high. The food is also nothing particularly innovative or unique, so those who enjoy exploring and learning might find it boring.

The second is that when people are staying close to home, things like requests or pressing work can easily disrupt them. This means that the holiday will be less interesting and more upsetting at this point.

5. Great Staycation ideas for a weekend getaway

Let’s discuss some fun ideas for a quick weekend getaway now that you have a solid understanding of what a staycation is.
